This restaurant has one star in the Michelin Red Guide. It is run by the multi-Michelin star chef Alain Ducasse. Burj Khalifa Burj Dubai, at 828 metres and 160 floors this is the world's tallest structure by a long shot, over 300m taller than the previous contender in Taipei. The observation deck at the 124th floor is the 2nd highest in the world after the Shanghai World Financial center. Already dominating the Dubai skyline, the newly opened tower houses nine hotels and a Las Vegas-inspired fountain system. The visitors' entrance is located at the lower ground floor of Dubai Mall. Although the tour is called At the Top be aware that it isn't! Although the observation deck is the highest open deck in the world, at 452m it's just over halfway up the tower itself. Console yourself with the knowledge that most of the rest of the tower consists of service areas and the view below looks suitably ant-like. Tickets cost Dhs 125 for a timed entry ticket, usually later the same day, or Dhs 400 if you do not want to wait. Tickets can sell out several days in advance, and it is advisable to book them online ahead of your visit. Things to do 1. Ski Dubai now has its own snow skiing centre. Located in the new Mall of the Emirates (MOE), on the Sheikh Zayed Road, it offers both skiing and snowboarding. The slope is quite large for an indoor area. All equipment is available for hire. Although it is -4°C inside, you don't need to bring a jacket because they supply pretty much everything except gloves and a hat (which you can buy right there). A 2 hour pass costs Dhs180 plus Dhs20 for a locker. 2. Dubai Zoo Jumeirah Road. An outdoor zoo near to the beach. Considering the extreme temperatures during the summer months, there are plans to bring the zoo indoors. The zoo is not worth visiting as the number and variety of animals are few, and housing conditions are also appalling. Animals are trapped in cages too small for them to take more than a few steps, and are frustrated and bored.  3. Dubai Underwater Zoo Kids can close their science books that tackles the life beneath the sea surface. The Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall. Meant for the family and travelers curious to the marine life, it offers thousands of  sea creatures. Al Boom Diving offers certified divers the chance to dive recreationally in the aquarium tank, getting up close and personal with its occupants. Come face-to-face with the large sharks and rays that inhabit the tank. Nowhere else can you guarantee to see such amazing diversity and numbers of species! The recreational dives are run four times a day, every two hours from 1pm and all equipment is provided. A training presentation is given before the dive to prepare you for the specialist environment of the tank and you receive a certificate of participation afterwards, as a lifelong souvenir of the day.  4. Gold Souk Not a mall, but a historic market that has been a part of Dubai since the origin of Dubai itself. Located at the mouth of the creek, it dazzles people by selling gold in large quantities and with little visible security. A must visit for shoppers and sightseers. Most of the gold is 22ct quality and quite expensive - although even here the shopkeepers are prepared to bargain - and the craftsmanship can be remarkably detailed. The gold items are sold by weight with a "making charge" added on top to cover the workmanship. It pays therefore, to go shopping armed with the current gold price and a knowledge of the making charges in order to hone the bargaining process. Many outlets are part of chains that also have branches in malls, so are generally reliable. 5. Spice souk We went to the Spice Souk first where the aromas of all the wonderful things for sale mixed with the local music blasting from the shops set the mood for the rest of the night.

11. Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat, Cambonia

Angkor Wat is the largest monument of the Angkor group and one of the most intact, is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, reliefs and sculpture make it one of the finest and biggest monuments in the world. This temple is expression of Khmer art at its highest point of development.Angkor Wat is a region of Cambodia that served as the seat of the Khmer Empire, which flourished from approximately the 9th to 15th centuries. The word Angkor is derived from the Sanskrit nagara , meaning "city".Wat is the Thai name for temple , which was probably added to Angkor when it became a Theravada Buddhist monument. 

Angkor Wat was designed by Divakarapandita, the chief adviser and minister of the king, who was a Brahmin with divine honours. The Khmers attribute the building of Angkor Wat to the divine architect Visvakarman. Construction began early in the reign of king Suryavarman II and because his name appears posthumously in the bas-reliefs and inscriptions. The estimated time for construction of the temple is about 30 years.

The ruins of Angkor are located amid forests and farmland to the north of the Great Lake. The temples of the Angkor area number over one thousand.. Many of the temples at Angkor have been restored, and together, they comprise the most significant site of Khmer architecture. 

Angkor Wat is the prime example of the classical style of Khmer architecture. By the 12th century Khmer architects had become skilled and confident in the use of sandstone  as the main building material. Most of the visible areas are of sandstone blocks, while literate was used for the outer wall and for hidden structural parts. The binding agent used to join the blocks is yet to be identified, although natural resins or slaked lime have been suggested.

Architectural Plan

The plan of Angkor Wat is difficult to grasp when walking through the monument because of its enormity. Its complexity and beauty both attract and distract one's attention. From a distance, Angkor at appears to be a colossal mass of stone on one level with a long causeway leading to the centre, but close up it is a series of elevated towers, covered galleries, chambers, porches and courtyards on different level linked by stairways.

It is recommended that you read this section and study the ground plan before visiting the temple, then keep this guide close at hand while looking at the different elements, particularly the bas reliefs. At 65 metres (213), the height of Angkor Wat from the ground the top of the central tower is greater than it might appear, achieved by using three rectangular or square platforms (1-3). Each one is progressively smaller and higher than the one below, starting from the outer limits of the temple. Covered galleries with columns define the boundaries of the first and the second platforms.

Construction techniques

The stones, as smooth as polished marble, were laid without mortar with very tight joints that are sometimes hard to find. The blocks were held together by mortise and tenon joints in some cases, while in others they used dovetails and gravity. The blocks were presumably put in place by a combination of elephants, coirropes, pulleys and bamboo scaffolding. Henri Mouhot noted that most of the blocks had holes 2.5 cm in diameter and 3 cm deep, with more holes on the larger blocks. Some scholars have suggested that these were used to join them together with iron rods, but others claim they were used to hold temporary pegs to help manoeuvre them into place.

The monument was made out of enormous amounts of sandstone, as much as Khafre's pyramid in Egypt (over 5 million tons). This sandstone had to be transported from Mount Kulen, a quarry approximately 25 miles (40 km) to the northeast. The stone was presumably transported by raft along the Siem Reap river. This would have to have been done with care to avoid overturning the rafts with such a large amount of weight. One modern engineer estimated it would take 300 years to complete Angkor Wat today. Yet the monument was begun soon after Suryavarman came to the throne and was finished shortly after his death, no more than 40 years.

12. Galapagos Island

The Galapagos Islands are a small archipelago of islands belonging to Ecuador in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The islands are quite remote and isolated and there are lying some 1000 km  west of the South American continent. The Galapagos archipelago consists of 13 main islands and 6 smaller isles, which together embrace some 50,000 sq km of ocean. The water around of these island is clean and fresh, its suitable for the sea animal to live. At there, you can see the nature blue sea and also feeling the fresh air around the Galapagos Islands.

The Galapagos archipelago is world-renowned for its unique and fearless wildlife. At Galapagos Islands, you can expect to see giant tortoises, sea lions, penguins, marine iguanas and different bird species. The landscape of the islands is relatively barren and volcanic, but it is beautiful so much. 

The Galapagos Islands have a highly variable climate as Ecuador's mainland. There are two seasons in the islands whiich are hot season and rainy season. The hot season is starting from December to June, when humidity is high and average temperatures are in the 26°C-30° C. There may be occasional showers, but the days are generally warm and sunny. Besides that, the rainy season is starting from June to November, you can expect cool winds. Temperatures average in the 20°C-24° C during the day and lower at night.

Each month brings unique climate variations and wildlife viewing opportunities. Peak season for naturalist tours is typically December through May when the seas are the calmest and the weather the warmest. However summer months June, July and August are also very popular as the animals are more active. September through November is typically low season when most boats will leave the islands for dry dock.In different season, you can see the different animal around island or sea. For example, during rainy season, the whale sharks can be founded easier.

Activities

1. Snorkeling & Scuba Diving

Snorkelling and diving are very popular activities as the sea life is so rich and colourful. Galapagos is a world-class destination for scuba divers because of the abundance of sharks, sea lions, fur seals, marine turtles, rays, mantas, marine iguanas, and reef fishes. If you plan to dive on your trip, check with your tour operator to make sure the agent is authorized to offer this activity.

Snorkelling equipment should be available from your tour operator. You may also want to bring a waterproof camera. Remember to wear at least a T-shirt and suntan lotion if you are snorkelling, as it's all too easy to get sunburnt in the strong sun. Snorkelling offers a way to be in the water with fish, sea turtles, sea lions, and other creatures and is a great option for those who don't have scuba certification. Wetsuits can be rented at the same locations as snorkelling equipment.

Diving in the Galapagos is incredible because you can see the most beautiful environment in the world and diving in Galapagos have been ranked as the best dive destination in the world for several years in the categories of healthiest marine environment. This is because there have the best big animal dive and best advanced diving. 

The traveller who is diving In Galapagos Island can be has an amazing opportunities to see huge schools of hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, Silky sharks and whale sharks in season (July-Nov). In addition to other pelagic life like giant mantas, eagle rays, sting rays, huge schools of jack and tuna, sea turtles, sea lions and more.

Hiking is often included as part of organized cruises or tours of the highlands. How to get In

Visiting the Galapagos is not cheap, owing to travel restrictions and the remote nature of the archipelago. The only way to get in the islands from the main land is by plane from Guayaquil or Quito airports. Flights travel to the Galapagos in the morning and return in the afternoon, typically requiring a forced overnight on the continent in each direction.

Now I will give some steps that can help the traveller procedure their flight easier in Quito airport. Step by step procedures at Quito airport

Note: Now that flights are leaving from the new Quito airport at Tarbabela, this section need some updating. You still need to follow the sequence described below but finding the counters is another matter. The airport is poorly signed. Advise asking as soon as you get there.

Procedure for flying from Quito airport to Galapagos.

1. Begin at the domestic ("national") terminal.

2. Before going through the main door, look for a smaller door to the right. Note: If you go through the main door you will see a large sign overhead saying that the first thing you do is go to the ticket counter. Don't believe that sign.

3. Go through the smaller door and have your bags checked for banned agricultural products. The exit to the agricultural inspection will put you inside the terminal.

4. Go immediately to your right to yet another small door. Here you will pay a $10 fee and get a "visa" for Galapagos. There is a separate $100 park entrance fee to pay when you land in Galapagos. Make sure you have cash for that as they will not accept Visa.

5. Now you proceed to the ticket counter and do the typical ticket counter things.

6. Then go through security opposite the ticket counter. They are only looking for metal. So you don't need to take off your shoes (unless they contain metal), remove your computer from your bag, or empty your water bottle.

7. You will then proceed to a large open room with four gates. The intercom doesn't work well and is in Spanish. And flights can depart without much notice. So double check your gate and keep a steady eye out for your.

13. Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai, Thailand

Chiang Rai is the northernmost large city in Thailand.Chiang Rai City lies in the flat alluvial plain of the Mae Kok River, a tributary of the Mekong, between the Daen Lao Range in the north and the Phi Pan Nam Range in the south.  Chiang Rai has a tropical wet and dry climate. The traveller better go to Chiang Rai on December or January because the temperature is around 8°C to 15°C at the time, it is cool. It is quite comfortable and the weather is suitable for Malaysian who are always stay in hot season. Today, Chiang Rai is a traveller’s paradise, endowed with abundant natural attractions and antiquities. Attractions range from ruins of ancient settlements and Buddhist shrines to magnificent mountain scenery and hill tribe villages. 

Visiting

1. White Temple

The White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) is one of the absolute “must see” attractions of Chiang Rai, The White Temple, located about 5 kilometres south of Chiang Rai, has become one of Thailand’s landmark attractions even though it is one of the newest temples in a country that abounds with ancient and mystical temples and palaces, if you not see that mean you are not really travelling in Chiang Rai. In White Temple, you will see amazing things and there have another two building which are Yellow building( Toilet) and Black Temple.

Sculptor Chalermchai Kositpipat (middle guy）, who has put his own money and time into building something he feels truly expresses both the joy and the sadness of Thailand in the modern world. The White Temple, you begin to get a sense of its special nature just from the skull markers along the road side.

Walking up the main entrance path towards the chapel of The White Temple, you start to realise what it is that Chalermchai, a household name in Thailand, when you see the picture and design craft in White temple, youwill feel that the picture want to steal your soul and holding up containers for you to put it in. On the bridge, strange giant warriors and amazing mythical creatures threaten you as you approach the bridge.

Inside the White Temple,there has a room that the real wonders can be found. Inside there, Chalermchai expresses his true feelings and frustrations about the modern world through an awe-inspiring series of wall sized paintings where, if you look closely, you can find everything such as Elvis Presley , Darth Vader, George Bush , the Twin Towers, Osama Bin Laden in the eye of skeleton, Superman,  and the hero from The Matrix movie. Beside that, you will also see Alladin, Doraemon, Hello Kiity, Ultraman and the characters from Star War movie.

Yellow Building

Even the toilets at The White Temple in Chiang Rai are special … what at first appears to be another temple lined with gold turns out to be a public toilet and even the windows are decorated with gold-colored glass. Chalermchai has erected a sign on the gold toilets to say the unfortunately visitors will tend to talk more about the gold toilets than they will about the white temple itself, which turns out to be very true and I think expresses his frustrations with the world very well too. Make a point of visiting The White Temple in Chiang Rai. You will not be disappointed.

2. Mae Salong (Santikhiri)

There is a revered mountain which includes the Doi Tung Palace and the Mae Fa Luang Flower Garden. The building is located on the middle of mountain. Inside the building, there has show the history of Thailand and equipment of war.

3. The Golden Triangle

It locally called "Sop Ruak", is where the Mekhong meets the Ruak River and also where the borders of three countries, Laos, Burma and Thailand, meet together. There are remains of many ancient places and structures attesting to the area having been settled by people in the past. 

In the Golden Triangle, there has shopping street so you can buy some souvenir for yourself or your friends. The shopping street is sell handmade leather bag and clothes.

Activity

1. Mountain

For those interested in the natural side of Chiang Rai, jungle trekking is a magical experience, explore the mountains of the north along various hiking trails

On the mountain, there has a natural hot spring , you can try it and relax. There has two types of hot spring, one of hot spring is outdoor style and another one is inside the room. I suggest that you try the indoor hot spring first because the temperature of indoor hot spring is suit for rest our mind and body. 

2. 7eleven

Why I suggest 7 eleven? This is because the price of goods in 7 eleven in Chiang Rai are cheaper than Malaysia or other country. Besides that, there has many types of foods and drinks provided in the shop. 

Opinion:

If I has a choice for travel, I will choose Chiang Rai again and not Bangkok. The atmosphere is really fresh and better than Bangkok. The travel cost is cheaper than travel in Bangkok.
